Abstract [en]

Life has developed several ways to store and process information. Understanding these systems has fundamental implications to human health. The study of the information processes that regulate cellular behavior is key to the upcoming revolution in biomedicine and biotechnology. The Rolf Ohlsson group at Karolinska Institute has developed a novel approach to study some of the most complex regulatory mechanisms in the cell, i.e. chromatin interactions. The following project describes the design and implementation of a custom-built analysis pipeline that will assist in the data processing challenges inherent to this new technology.

Livsprocessen har utvecklat flera olika sätt att förvara och hantera information av fundamental betydelse för människans hälsa. Studiet av informationsprocessen som reglerar cellers beteende tillhandahåller nyckeln till den revolution av biomedicine och bioteknologi som vi bara har sett början av. Rolf Ohlssons grupp vid Karolinska Institutet har utvecklat en ny metod för att studera en av de mest komplexa, regulatoriska system man kan tänka sig: kromosomala interaktioner. Mitt projekt beskriver utformning och genomförande av en kundbaserad pipelineanalys, som kommer att bidra till hur data från sådana studier kan hanteras.
