The market for tablets has grown a lot since Apple released the iPad. The interest from competitors has followed the same trend. Today Apples most important rivals are the multitude of units using the Android operative system from Google. In this report the strengths, weaknesses as well as potential possibilities of the Android tablets will be examined. This is followed by a description of an implementation where an existing Android app for smartphones from Blocket, a Swedish company providing a web based second hand service, is converted to a tablet app. The research material, in combination with the experience gained from the implementation, will then be used to draw conclusions and discuss further possibilities. Recommendations to Blocket for continued development, in regards to the tablet app and the original smartphone app it is based on, are also given.

Tabletmarknaden har vuxit explosionsartat sedan Apples release av iPad och intresset bland konkurrenterna har ökat ständigt sedan dess. I dagsläget är enheter som använder Googles operativsystem Android den viktigaste rivalen till iPad. I detta examensarbete utreds Androidtablets styrkor och svagheter och dess potentiella möjligheter undersöks. Utredningen följs av en implementationsdel där Blockets existerande Androidapp till smartphones skrivs om till en tabletapp. Resultatet av det är en prototyp som ger en god grund att fortsätta från. Den kombinerade erfarenheten av utredningen och implementationen används sedan för att dra slutsatser och diskutera ytterligare möjligheter för appen. Rapporten avslutas med rekommendationer till Blocket för vidareutveckling dels av tabletappen och dels av originalappen som den baseras på.
