Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Wikipedia is a freely available, internet-based collection of articles where users

are able to both create and edit content. The material is distributed under

the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). The English

language Wikipedia holds millions of articles, hundreds of thousands of which

are on the topic of music.

Spotify AB is developing an internet-based music streaming service called

Spotify

. The service allows users to select and listen to music from a large

central archive.

This thesis describes a method and a system for incorporating Wikipedia

articles on artists, albums and songs into Spotifys metadata system. The

articles are matched against Spotify's internal music database and are transformed

into a format that is suitable for presentation in the Spotify client

software.
