Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The mobile application development industry has gone from being controlled and managed by mobile network operators, phone manufacturers and a small group of content providers to being an industry open to everyone (Holzer & Ondrus, 2009). This has resulted in a significant amount of new players in a short time and a lack of common routines and processes. That is why this thesis has been aimed at defining a mobile application management model. This has been achieved by dividing the management process into two areas, one technical area targeted at support and one more service oriented area targeted at aftermarket subscriptions. The research questions targeted in this thesis are:

    How should a successful mobile application management process be structured by the supplying company?

    What are the value-adding after-sales support and services in mobile application management, both for the mobile application developer and the customer?

By looking at best practices in the IT industry as well as taking in primary sources through semi structured interviews a recommendation has been presented showing an overall management structure and highlighting sought after services in the aftermarket.
