Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Project for a new municipal art museum in Uppsala. The main problem studied has been how the exhibition space can be designed so as to be as flexible and adaptable as possible, while at the same time pose as a setting for place specific installations. Borrowing the scale and technology of the factory hall building, and placing the exhibition hall atop a servant base, a generous space is achieved, with great possibilities for building and changing exhibitions without closing all or part of the museum to visitors. In the basement workshop, the exhibition spaces are assembled and thereafter lifted up into and placed in the exhibition hall by the overhead crane. Thus, each exhibition can take place in a suitable exhibition space. The pavilions are connected to electricity, tap water, ventilation and sewer pipes as needed via perforations in the floor. The entire public program of the museum can therefore be accommodated in the same moveable and disassemblable pavilions. Uppsala will thereby have an art museum that is unique and intriguing.
