Analytic approximation for migration assisted upconversion in Er-doped silica after short-pulse excitation

We propose an analytic approximation describing the decay of the population inversion in Er-doped silica affected by the migration assisted homogeneous upconversion. We show that the results well agree with the Monte-Carlo simulations.
