Abstract [sv]

Poesi är en konstform med få regler och fria ramar. Mjukvarukonstruktionär, tvärtemot poesin, baserat på ett rigoröst ramverk med strikta förhållningsregler. Här utforskas möjligheten att kombinera dessa discipliner och generera poesi med hjälp av mjukvara. Uppsatsen beskriver hur naturligt språk kan genereras och hur det genererade språket kan bilda poetiska texter med hjälp av kontexter och grammatiska regler. Det estetiska värdet på den genererade poesin undersöks utifrån en objektiv bedömning som sedan jämförs med en läsares subjektiva uppfattning. Undersökningen indikerar att en objektiv bedömning baserad på frekvensen av ordföljder inte motsvarar en subjektiv bedöming utförd av en testgrupp på bästa sätt. Mjukvaran genererar dock poetisk text på ett tillfredställande sätt.

Abstract [en]

Poetry is an art form with few rules and wide frames. Software engineering is, contrary to poetry, based on a rigorous framework with strict rules of conduct. Here the possibility of combining these disciplines and generate poetry using software is explored. The paper describes how natural language can be generated and how the generated language can form poetic texts using contexts and grammatical rules. The aesthetic value of the generated poetry is examined from an objective assessment which is then compared with a reader’s subjective perception. The survey indicates that an objective assessment based on frequency of words do not match the subjective perception of a test group in the best way. However, the software generates poetic texts in a satisfactory manner.
