Abstract [sv]

Malet med projektet har varit att hitta nya applikationer for portabel NMR. Fokus

har legat pa att undersoka tva potentiella applikationer.

Den ena applikationen som undersoktes var formagan att detektera mikrosvampar

i tra. Det gjordes ett forsok att odla mogel pa tra. Resultatet indikerar att det

ar mojligt att detektera mogel med en barbar spektrometer, detta innan moglet ar

synligt for ett manskligt oga. Vidare undersoktes det om det fanns en signalskillnad

mellan friskt och skadat tra. Resultatet visar pa att det ar mojligt att skilja pa friskt

och skadat tra med hjalp av en portabel NMR-spektrometer.

Den andra applikationen var kvantiering av fukt och olja i kae. Detta gjordes

genom att utfora matningar pa olika sorters kae for att se om erhallen signal

kan korreleras till fukt- respektive oljehalt. Det visade sig att metoden ar mest

anvandbar for matning av fukt och kan vara lamplig att anvanda inom kvalitetskontroll

for att forsakra sig om att kaets fuktinnehall ligger pa en normal niva.

For bada experimenten anvandes den barbara NMR-spektrometern \LabSpec" fran

Magritek. Magneterna som anvandes var NMR MOUSE stavmagnet (19 MHz) och

NMR Prole MOUSE PM30 (9 MHz) for traanalyserna och NMR Prole MOUSE

PM30 for kaeanalyserna.

Spektrometerns egen mjukvara Prospa anvandes for att utfora samtliga matningar

och vid utvardering av matdata anvandes programmet Origin.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of the project was to nd new applications for portable NMR. The

main focus has been to evaluate two potential applications.

The rst application to be examined was detection of microfungi in wood. A test

was done by growing mold on wood. The results indicated that it is possible to

detect mold on wood, even before it is visible by the human eye. Further, it was

tested if a dierence in signal was noticable between healthy and damaged wood.

The results showed that it is possible to distinguish healthy wood from damaged

with a portable NMR spectrometer.

The other examined application was quantication of moisture and oils in coee.

This was done by measuring dierent kinds of coee to see if the obtained signal

can be correlated to moisture and oil content, respectively. It appeared that the

method is most useful for moisture measurements and might be useful in quality

control, to ensure that the moisture content of the coee is at a normal level.

The portable NMR spectrometer "LabSpec" from Magritek was used for both of

the experiments. The magnets used were NMR Mouse barmagnet (19 MHz) and

a NMR Prole MOUSE PM30 (9 MHz) for the wood measurements and a NMR

Prole MOUSE PM30 for the coee measurements.

The spectrometer's own software Prospa was used for all measurements and the

program Origin was used to evaluate the data.
