Abstract [en]

Providing drinking water is one of the greates challenges in the world today. Moringa oleifera (MO) seed power are used for the house hold water treatment (HWT) in Africa (Ghebremicheal, 2004). This work has been done to isolate the low molecular weight coagulant protein from Mustard and Rapeseed. MO has been used as a control for the experiments. The experiment protocol is similar to isolation of the protein from MO. AFter recovery and purification of seed extracts with cat ion exchange media a thick band of a low molecular weight protein was dected on SDS PAGE. The Native PAGE was dooncuted for the first time to see the responsible protein for the coagulation. The staining of the Native PAGE gel did not result in visible protein band. Hoever, fractions with coagulations activity could be extracted from the Native PAGE.
