Simulation and Measurement of Transmission Losses of a Climate Compressor under Pressure Pulsations

Abstract [en]

A/C piston compressors su er from pressure pulsation. These appear as distinct peaks of the fundamental and the rst couple harmonics in the spectrum (e.g. pressure pulsation measurement in discharge lines). These pulsations might be radiated as noise to the vehicle exterior and into the interior. Knowledge about the transmission loss behavior of a compressor would reveal frequency regions of high and low attenuation. This is essential for noise forecast and design.

The two main goals of the present master thesis can be summarized as:

• Create a simulation model to predict transmission losses of a compressor.

• Develop a measurement method to measure transmission losses of a compressor.

The fundamental frequencies and the appearing harmonics dene the frequency region of interest which lead to the focus of both the simulation and the measurement.
