Importance of gender equality in a company's Board of Directors and management (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The gender issue is highly debated in today's society and it has long been known that there exist differences between the genders in different situations, such as in their professional life.

In connection to this, a lot of research has been done regarding gender, organization and management. This is an area that, among other things, deals with the consequences of an unbalanced representation of women and men in a group, for example in a board. Such consequences can inhibit women from reaching their full potential as well as damaging the board’s work.

This study has demonstrated, using regression analysis, that there is no connection between the board fee and the proportion of female directors. In addition, the essay discusses the consequences of an unbalanced composition of a board. Several studies indicate that an unbalanced composition of a board may hinder their work from reaching greater heights and also to obtain social sustainability.
