Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Background research was conducted which showed statistics on that accidents from falling was the most common type of accident in Sweden, and quite deadly as well. Elderly people was most prone to this type of accident, and the conclusion became that this was a problem for the elderly that needed solving. A problem statement, a goal and a list of limitations was developed, where the problem statement was that elderly people don’t use ice creepers enough today, and the goal became to develop a new kind of ice creeper that elderly people would be more tempted to use. A quality specification was developed, and a solution method was specified which included a search through the patent and registration work for existing ice creepers and a market survey. Then product concepts were developed and a QFD-matrix, where the concepts got evaluated. The evaluation showed that the most potential was in a removable ice creeper with an on and off mode for the studs. Technical concepts were then developed which tried to realise the function of the aforementioned removable ice creeper in a technical way. Finally, a concept which included mobile blocks that covered the studs when the ice creeper was not active was chosen for further development. This further development led to a technical solution per component, which was then presented under their respective categories in the report, with relating schematics in the appendix.
