Abstract [en]

In this paper we investigate how inter-professional work affects the reconstruction of professional identities for physicians and nurses in Swedish health care. Taking an inter-professional perspective on identity work, we suggest that future inquiry into professionalism in health care needs to focus on the consequences of collaborative practices rather than pre-NPM notions of autonomous and separated professions. We thereby contribute to ongoing studies of identity construction in inter-professional collaboration (cf Liff & Wikström, 2014) by offering an understanding of how new forms of professionalisms are constructed in negotiations of professional identities.
