Low-Voltage Ride-Through of a 2-MW Rotating Power Electronic Brushless Doubly-Fed Generator

This paper presents results for unsymmetrical lowvoltageride-through (LVRT) of a 2-MW brushless doubly-fedinduction generator with rotating power electronic converters.The behavior of the generator during various voltage dips isexamined and explained. The dual vector control of the generator,which assists the generator in riding through unsymmetricalfaults, and minimizes electrical and mechanical oscillations, ispresented. Furthermore, studies of the impact of phase-anglejumps and various magnitudes of voltage dips on the operationof the generator are presented.
