Development and commissioning of control systems in a manufacturing system development and integration are often time consuming particularly during the commissioning phase. Experience has shown that 70% of the time is spent to debug and eliminate errors in control systems during commissioning of the manufacturing system. To mitigate this, virtual commissioning (VC) is an effective method and a number of tools and architectures have been developed in the last two decades. In this paper, an architecture and implementation of a PLC VC platform that uses automatic code generation from stateflow models is presented.
