Abstract [sv]

Moderna lastbilar bestar av hundratals inbyggda system där varje har sin avgränsade arbetsuppgift. Ett av dessa system är det sa kallade instrumentklustret som förmedlar information till föraren. informationen bestar bland annat av hastighet, och varningar. Nuvarande instrumentkluster har mycket m och output for hårdvara och i framtiden kommer det troligtvis att oka. Därför behöver nuvarande arkitektur ses over infor nästa generations instrumentkluster. Uppsatsen presenterar en ny arkitektur for instrumentklustret som är distribuerad over minst två styrenheter. Den nya arkitekturen kommer att tas fram under en iterativ process där den kontinuerligt kommer att förändras och utvärderas. Viktiga aspekter är ekonomiska, säkerhet, prestanda vilken hårdvara som kan delas med andra styrenheter, och vilken hårdvara som behöver dupliceras men också att gränssnittet mellan enheterna ska bli bra. Personbilsindustrin ligger längt före lastbilsindustrin vad gäller utveckling av instrumentkluster. I personbilar finns redan fullskärmskluster som i hög grad är integrerade med andra system och innehåller både bild frän kameror men också navigering. Troligtvis kommer lastbilsindustrin gå liknande framtid till mötes. Examensarbetet resulterar i en distribuerad arkitektur som skulle kunna fungera for framtida instrumentkluster i lastbilar. Men genom att kombinera det bästa från nuvarande arkitektur och den distribuerade arkitekturen skulle ett ännu bättre resultat kunna uppnås, framförallt ur ett ekonomiskt perspektiv.

Abstract [en]

Modern trucks consists of hundreds of embedded systems where each has their own defined task. One of these systems is the instrument cluster which shows information like speed, and alerts to the driver. Current instrument cluster has pretty much hardware input and output, in the future the hardware input and output will probably increase. Therefore the current used architecture have to be reviewed for the next generation of instrument cluster. The thesis presents a new architecture for instrument cluster that is distributed over at least two controllers. The new architecture will be developed in an iterative process, where it continually is changed and evaluated. Important aspects are economical, safety, performance, what hardware can be shared with other Electronic Control Units, and what hardware needs to be duplicated but also a good interface between units. This result will be presented as a suggested architecture for future instrument cluster. The industry of regular cars is well before the industry of trucks in terms of instrument clusters. In regular cars, there are already full screen clusters highly integrated with other systems, and contains both image from cameras but also navigation. Most likely, the trucking industry will do the same in future. The thesis results in a distributed architecture that could work for the future instrument cluster in trucks. But by combining the best of current architecture and the distributed architecture an even better architecture can be achieved, primarily from an economic perspective.
