Abstract [sv]

Syftet med denna rapport är att redovisa resultatet av ett kandidatexamesarbete vid Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan i Stockholm. Målet med projektet var att konstruera ett mekatroniskt system i form av en robot som kan interagera med en uppträdande musiker för att förstärka intycket av uppträdandet. Roboten kommer att göra detta genom att med hjälp av inbyggda sensorer analysera musik som spelas i närheten och anpassa sina rörelser efter den dominerande takten. Utseendemässigt kommer roboten att vara både mänsklig och mekanisk. Kandidatexamensarbetet utfördes av fem studenter som tidigare slutfört ett individuellt projektarbete där varje student fördjupade sig i ett på förhand utvalt teknikområde i syfte att skapa en ökad kompetens inom det valda området. Dessa projekt utgör den teoretiska bakgrunden till denna rapport och inkluderas som bilagor. Resultatet av projektet var en robot som nästan uppfyllde det ovan specificerade målet: den kunde röra sig men inte i takt med musik.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this report is to present the result of a thesis project in mechatronics at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. The objective of the project was to construct a mechatronic system in the shape of a robot capable of interacting with a performing musician to enhance the visual impression of the performance. The robot was supposed to do this by using its sensors to analyze nearby music and will adapt its movement to the most prominent frequency of the music, the beat. The goal of the appearance of the robot was to be both human and mechanical. The work of the project was carried out by a group of five students that had previously completed an individual project whose goal was to explore a specific field of technology to give each student a deeper knowledge of the specified field. These projects make up the theoretical background of this report and is included as supplements. The result of the project was a robot that nearly achieved the objective specified above: the robot was capable of moving the intended parts, but not adapt its movement to nearby music.
