Föskola i Solna

Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The project consists of a nursery school in Solna, Stockholm. Focus has been on the idea that larger child groups leads to a reduced ability for the teachers to follow the curriculum and an inability to give the needed extra support to those requiring it. Therefore, the goal with this nursery school has been to create an environment that makes it easier to form smaller groups without having to increase the amount of staff. This is achieved through dividing the nursery school in three smaller departments in separate houses with two floors each, with a floor only requiring one teacher to supervise it. All three departments are linked together in a floor that creates a shared activity room. A secondary goal has been to create an atmosphere and yard that connects to and extends the surrounding villa neighborhood by offering a variation in room and scale. The nursery school houses 40-50 children and 10 employees.
