    Abstract [en]

    The exposure of ELF (Extremely low frequency) magnetic field generated by today’s electrical power system, is something that is relatively new to the human body and it is constantly increasing as more technology is developed. As there is no clear answer on how the field actually affects the body, a measure of caution is applied to ensure that the exposure levels are kept down to make sure no harm is done. With the help of previous research in the field, measured values from different locations and approximate calculations, a tool was developed in Excel to estimate the magnitude of the magnetic fields. The tool provides information about the magnitude of magnetic fields from transformers, switchgears, switchboards, powerlines and busbars. The user enters a number of parameters and the tool provides output data with the magnitude of the magnetic field at different distances from the source. This is presented in the form of a table and a graph for each equipment. Since the magnetic field is generated depending on the currents direction, the actual geometry of the electrical system needs to be taken in consideration when calculating the exact magnetic field. This requires an advanced simulation software to be accurate. With this tool, designers have the opportunity to estimate the magnetic fields at an early stage of development.

    Abstract [en]

    This project presents an analysis of the security regarding some of the controllers which are used in real estates managed by Riksbyggen. The controllers are used to control different parts of a property, such as lighting and temperature. In most cases, the controllers are reached via their own public IP address, while some manufacturers have a cloud service for their controllers. The purpose with this project has been to examine the different controllers’ security, discover weaknesses and provide suggestions for improvements to these. In addition, examples are also given on how smart homes can be built.

    The study has been made in several ways, partly with the help of controlled attacks but also by gathering information about the controllers and how they operate. Based on the studies that were made, a number of weaknesses have been observed, including passwords’ strength and encryption of these. General suggestions for improvements have been given to reduce the vulnerability for possible attacks that may occur in the future.

    Abstract [en]

    Call centers are used today in many areas of customer service of various kinds with the objective of providing the best service possible. The problem is when multiple instances provide the same services, but where each instance is responsible for its own geographical area. A frequent problem that arises is that the load of these call centers varies drastically, some call centers might have too much to do while others will not have anything to do at all.

    It is therefore of interest to analyze the interaction between these centers and review any changes in efficiency. The solution of 1177 Vårdguiden system today is that the system handles the call flow in a fashion where a phone call is sent to the nearest call center, in the same region.

    Softronic had earlier a mission to analyze and optimize the call system of 1177 Vårdguiden by streamline and enhance the quality of call handling in the form of faster response times and calls answered in the same region they were calling from. Softronic has developed two models, with promising results, however not fully in line with the objectives. This is the basis for this thesis.

    After thorough analysis six unique models were used were 3 of these were developed in the thesis. These models were designed according to several parameters and took into account for example competence, which is based on where a call is answered geographically as well as how long a call is placed in the queue. These models were simulated using a tool developed for this purpose, and these results were compared. The results of these simulations revealed that the best model was with a combination of collaboration between a local and national queue.

    Abstract [en]

    This report identifies how the system design of low voltage power distribution of the railway can be more cost effective. In the current situation there is a norm on the system design that tends to be replicated each year. This has brought a lack of innovation in the field.

    The purpose of the thesis was to come up with two model stations with the interlocking system M11 respectively M95, where the positioning and nominal size of the UPS:s would be determined to provide a cost effective solution. Furthermore, the cable dimensioning of the model stations was computed as well as the possibility of replacing UPS-systems with rectifier-systems. The model stations were based on two already existing operating sites, Fagersta C (M11) and Skänninge (M95). Lastly, different energy storage alternatives for UPS-systems were compared to acquire the most appropriate choice.

    Through simulations and calculations in, inter alia, the computer program El-Vis, the low voltage power distribution was dimensioned for the model stations. The thesis shows that a distributed UPS-system is preferred in an economical point of view compared to a centralized UPS-system. Furthermore, the thesis establishes that the rectifier system Rectiverter can replace UPS:s. It also states that accumulators are the most suitable alternative for energy storage.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis investigates applicable indoor navigation systems for the next generation of hand-held shopping scanners, on behalf of the company Virtual Stores. The thesis research and review applicable indoor localization methods and ways to combine and evaluate received localization data in order to provide accurate navigation without introducing any other worn equipment for a potential user. Prototype navigation systems was proposed, developed and evaluated using a combination of carefully placed radio transmitters that was used to provide radio based localization methods using Bluetooth or UltraWide Band (UWB) and inertial sensors combined with a particle filter. The Bluetooth solution was deemed incapable of providing any accurate localization method while the prototype using a combination of UWB and inertial sensors proved promising solution with below 1m average error under optimal conditions or 2.0m average localization error in a more realistic environment. However, the system requires the surveyed area to provide 3 or more UWB transmitters in the line of sight of the UWB receiver of the user at every location facing any direction to provide accurate localization. The prototype also requires to be scaled up to provide localization to more than 1 radio transmitters at the time before being introduced to the Fast moving consumer goods market.

    Abstract [en]

    There are more and more people watching video streams over the Internet, and this has led to an increase in companies that compete for viewers. To improve the users experience, these companies can measure how their services are performing. The aim of this thesis was to recommend a way to measure the quality of service for a real time video streaming service. Three methods were presented; to buy the information from a content delivery network, extend existing analytics software or build a custom solution using packet sniffing. It was decided to extend existing analytics software. An evaluation was made on which software to extend. Four solutions were compared: Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Ooyala IQ and Piwik. The comparison was made using the analytic hierarchy process, comparing each alternative in their performance in criteria such as API maturity, flexibility, visualization and support. The recommended software to extend when building a real time video streaming service is Ooyala IQ which excel at flexibility and is easy to implement into existing solutions. It also had great capacity, offering no limit on how many events it can track per month, and finally it offers great dedicated support via telephone or email.

    Within each activity, there is always some kind of project planning when you want to do business in a new market. These types of preparation are done in different ways and the challenge for companies is to make use of the right establishment strategy. To succeed in implementing a project, on the respective market that organizations are working on, one of the success factors is to have a clear and thoughtful approach.

    The company Beta offers cloud-based customs management services, which provide solutions that help other companies handle their customs issues. Beta is established in the Swedish market and wants to try to offer their IT solutions in Norway. The company therefore has a need to investigate how the Norwegian market looks, if there is an opportunity to broaden their existing system solutions and, if so, how they should go about getting a working system that can communicate with the Norwegian customs office.

    The report proposes a method that can be used as a basis for expanding a business to new markets. The development process presented should also be generalized, serve as a basis, and used by other companies facing the same challenge as Beta. This report also contains an analysis of the Norwegian market. There is a comparison between parts of the Swedish and Norwegian customs system and a presentation of the changes that need to be made based on differences.

    As a result, the report provides a clear picture of how one might possibly be able to address similar problems. The project members also present a result describing a solution to Beta's problems.

    Abstract [en]

    Traffic accidents are a problem in today’s society and new solutions regarding intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are being requested. One solution to such is vehicle-to-vehicle communication (V2V), where safer traffic can be achieved by vehicles transmitting relevant traffic information to surrounding vehicles. In this report, we researched and developed methods for a follow-detection algorithm for V2V communication. The task was to find a solution for follow-detection by using GPS and FM-RDS, with regards to time delay. An algorithm was developed in a simulated environment, to then be implemented in a prototype for measuring traffic. For efficient usage of FM-RDS packets, the transmitted position was compressed and then decompressed at the receiving side. The results of the simulations and traffic tests indicated that it was possible to detect if a vehicle followed another in traffic, by using GPS positioning and FM-RDS with time delay. The accuracy of the algorithm degraded at higher time delays, however there is potential for improvements. Suggestions for improvements of the reconstruction function and the algorithm are discussed in this report.

    Abstract [en]

    There are several studies that indicate that students experience increased motivation of incremental rewards and incentives being an integral part of learning. One solution may be to give the points earned by the completed lessons and issues, and reward levels that these points unlock. This is usually called gamification and is a growing trend in education and many other areas. However, there are very few studies on the aspects that are suitable for gamification and how it should be applied to enhance learning. We want to create a more engaging and motivating learning through a clear feedback of the progress and rewarding knowledge, curiosity and learning over time.

    This study aims to investigate the effects of gamification on learning for elementary school students in Sweden. In a first step, I have conducted a feasibility study on the subject and have developed my research strategy based on previous research I have studied. Then I developed a web application that is a prototype of digital teaching material and implemented different gamification strategies in it.

    Half of the students had to use the program without such gamification elements in order to compare student achievement with each other. The focus group was limited to grade 4 students in primary school. This work also compared the effect of gamification in two chosen subjects Swedish and Mathematics. The survey was completed at Skarpatorpsskolan in Skarpnäck, Stockholm. The students had to learn a new subject for them and then work on the subject in the web application

    In the result there is a comparison of their knowledge increase in the two subjects. The comparison indicates a significant increase in the understanding and more involvement of students with mediocre results and the students with concentration problems compared with the more talented students. The subject of mathematics was the most appropriate subject to use for digital learning. Also the gamification elements functioned better in mathematics compared to Swedish. The student’s attitudes were different when it comes to choosing gamification elements. In contrast, the whole group gave a good response to the element progress bar.

    In the current situation there are plenty of digital learning materials but the research behind how they are constructed are pretty few. The use of gamification and digital learning materials in the school system is completely dependent on politicians and the teacher's opinions about it. It is each school's management that takes the decisions if invest in digital learning or not.

    Web shops today needs to be more and more responsive, where one part of this responsivenessis fast product searches. One way of getting faster searches are by searching against anindex instead of directly against a database.

    Network Expertise Sweden AB (Net Exp) wants to explore different methods of implementingan index in their future web shop, building upon the open-source web shop platformSmartStore.NET. Since SmartStore.NET does all of its searches directly against itsdatabase, it will not scale well and will wear more on the database. The aim was thereforeto find different solutions to offload the database by using an index instead.

    A prototype that retrieved products from a database and made them searchable through anindex was developed, evaluated and implemented. The prototype indexed the data with aninverted index algorithm, and was made searchable with a search algorithm that mixed typeboolean queries with normal queries.

    Abstract [en]

    Large amounts of time series data are generated and managed within management systems and industries with the purpose to enable monitoring of the systems. When the time series is to be acquired and compiled for data analysis, the expenditure of time is a problem. This thesis was purposed to determine how the extraction of time series data should be performed to give the systems the best response time possible.

    To make the extraction and compilation as effective as possible, different techniques and methods were tested and evaluated. The areas that techniques and methods were compared for were compilation of data inside and outside the database, caching, usage of in-memory databases compared to other databases, dataformats, data transfer, and precalculation of data.

    The results showed that the best solution was to compile data in parallel outside the database, to use a custom built-in in-memory database, to use Google Protobuf as data format, and finally to use precalculated data.

    Den 5 mars 2015 inträffade ett elfel i högspänningssidan av hjälpkraften mellan Häggvik och Arlanda C. Ett isolationsfel uppstod på denna sträcka, exakt mellan Upplands Väsby och Skavstaby och pågick under 18 s utan att skyddsutrustningen kopplade bort den felaktiga delen.

    Konsekvenserna blev att 22 st. kraftaggregat i Arlandas signalanläggning blev utslagna vilket orsakade totalstopp för tågtrafiken förbi Arlanda C.

    Problemet som detta examensarbete lade fokus på är varför skyddsutrustningarna inte kopplade bort elfelet snabbt och hur skyddsutrustningar samarbetar med varandra för att kunna utlösas selektivt.

    Trafikverkets övervakningssystem GELD (Gemensam Eldriftsystem) visade vilka skyddsutrustningar som var inblandade under felförloppet samt de viktigaste händelserna vid respektive tidpunkt och typ av fel. Genom att analysera data från GELD konstaterades orsaken till varför skyddsutrustningarna (jordfelsskyddet i Häggvik) inte reagerade i tid.

    För att säkerställa att inställningsvärdena för jordfelsbrytaren i Häggvik (SKBY:N) är korrekta, gjordes en teoretisk beräkning av dessa värdena.

    Resultatet blev att isolationsfelet orsakade intermittenta jordfel som medförde att jordfelsbrytarna (HGL:N) och (SKBY:N) i Häggvik inte kunde lösa ut i tid (inom 2 s) De intermittenta jordfelen har även gett överspänningar (transienter) som överbelastade de friska faserna och orsakade ytterligare jordfel på andra ställen.

    Analysen av händelserna visade att jordfelsbrytarna (HGL:N) och (SKBY:N) i Häggvik är felriktade, d.v.s. de löste ut oselektivt.

    Som åtgärd för att undvika upprepning av detta elfel bör nya kabelavslut på samtliga faser installeras. För att korrigera jordfelsbrytarnas funktion och säkerställa selektiv utlösning bör ett primärriktningsprov utföras av Trafikverket.

    En förebyggande åtgärd är att lokalisera det andra jordfelet som initierades efter det första intermittenta jordfelet.

    Abstract [en]

    This report investigated an unstructured and fragmented IT environment at Electrolux. The environment lacked flows and processes for troubleshooting. Outdated hardware and software and a lack of communication between the product organization and the IT organization, resulted in an increased risk of network attacks and virus attacks. The situation resulted in unnecessary costs, neglected security and inadequate IT support for the end-users.

    The goal of this work is to achieve a unified, structured and well-established IT environment with clear procedures and flows for the troubleshooting of computer hardware and software. Uniform hardware and software as well as standardized IT solutions is of great importance. Barriers to migration to a well-established IT environment would with this work also be eliminated.

    A situation analysis was conducted together with an inventory of hardware and software. This was done to get an overview and to understand how the business worked, also to find possible IT failures. The results showed the need for a migration of a group of computers to an established IT environment with operational procedures and processes. An implementation plan and manual for the migration was generated in the report. An evaluation of the different tools for limited administrative rights on end-user computers was also performed. The most suitable tool for Electrolux was Avecto Privilege Guard which was tested and configured. This was done to assimilate the product organization’s needs. Solution´s to meet the requirements from both Electrolux IT and product organization was developed and is presented in the results.

    The results of this thesis showed a great need of an IT coordinator for a better communication and better cooperation between the organizations. A recommendation regarding this was presented to Electrolux together with suggestions for improvements and measures.

    This thesis has been carried out on behalf of KTH the school for medicaltechnology, who saw the need to use diaphanography, an medical imaging methodto detect breastmilk and diseases in women. In this thesis, diaphanography is usedto detect breastmilk in breastfeeding women.Breast engorgement is a problem for women who breastfeed. When the motherproduces more milk than the baby uses, pain occurs. To reduce engorgementdiaphanography can be used to analyze and see if there is any milk produced.Two methods, reflectance and penetration was used to examine the amount ofmilk.The results showed that both methods could detect milk, but only the penetrationcould estimate the amount of milk.

    Abstract [en]

    Track circuits are used to detect where the trains are along the railway. This report contains a study of two models of audio frequency track circuit from Alstom called DTC – 921 and DTC - 24. The calculations made in the result section are made on only DTC-921. The different frequencies between two track circuits are divided by an S-bond. The S-bond is made of cupper which is a material that is theft-prone. The purpose of the project was to investigate the functionality of the S-bond and how  a cable with a different kind of material would affect the function. Three different kinds of materials have been investigated: aluminum, iron and safecable from safetrack.

     

    By studying the function of the S-bond and how it interacts with the tuning box the affect off the different materials have been evaluated. The parameters of the materials have been calculated and the function has been simulated in Pspice.

    Abstract [en]

    Google allows companies to buy ad space on Googles search engine, which goes by the name AdWords. Docklin Digital creates ads and buys ad space for the company’s clients with the help of AdWords. Google AdWords lets companies input bids that will affect the ad space an ad will receive. Docklin Digital inputs these bids manually and is searching for a way to optimize the bidding process with the help of JavaScript. To solve this problem a pilot study was conducted into earlier works in the field, facts about Google AdWords and appropriate methods to test and analyse a procedure for automatic changing of bids. The pilot study resulted in two developed scripts. One of the scripts was developed by applying a theory from a thesis. The other script was based on the company’s manual way of configuring bids. In the analysis stage of this thesis, the script that was developed from the thesis was found to perform marginally better but to an increased cost of 36 %. In the end the script that was based on the company’s manual way of working was deemed to perform better, the reason being the lower total costs and performing in an almost similar way.

    Abstract [en]

    Machine learning is a method in data science for analysing large data sets and extracting hidden patterns and common characteristics in the data. Corporations often have access to databases containing great amounts of data that could contain valuable information.

    Navetti AB wants to investigate the possibility to automate their product categorisation by evaluating different types of machine learning algorithms. This could increase both time- and cost efficiency.

    This work resulted in three different prototypes, each using different machine learning algorithms with the ability to categorise products automatically. The prototypes were tested and evaluated based on their ability to categorise products and their performance in terms of speed. Different techniques used for preprocessing data is also evaluated and tested.

    An analysis of the tests shows that when providing a suitable algorithm with enough data it is possible to automate the manual categorisation.

    Abstract [en]

    In this thesis, a study has been carried out for the consulting company ÅF, and their work method within documentation and control facilities to investigate whether there were any potential for efficiency improvements. The investigation has largely involved interviews with operating consultants within the control facility on substations. The consultants worked as electrical designers and produced drawings mainly for control equipment. The results of the interviews were analyzed to draw conclusions about the efficiency potentials within the business. Different offices in the business were examined and the work approach varied between the offices. One difference was the CAD-software used and a suggestion was to use the same program. Efficiency improvement potentials were also by re-using electrical schematics to some extent from previous projects and another suggestion was to establish databases where electrical schematics can be gathered and shared between the different offices.

    Abstract [en]

    Municipalities and government agencies are producers of information that may be of interest to the public concerning areas such as population statistics, weather data and policy decisions. In the Digital Agenda, the Swedish Government emphasizes the importance for data to be spread and promotes the development and innovation of new e-services created by other parties than government agencies. Various development initiatives of platforms have been taken around the world but there are no specific standards regarding how data should be made public.

    Softronic currently offer their customers a proprietary platform for the publication of open data. In order to improve or alternatively replace this, Softronic wanted an evaluation of a number of already existing platforms.

    This report contains an evaluation of the Softronic platform along with three other candidates: CKAN, Socrata and OpenDataSoft. The included aspects in the evaluation were selected based on requests from Softronic, covering among other things the installation process, performance and upgrades. To assess the API function of the platforms and demonstrate how an application using open data can be implemented, a graphical client was developed.

    Socrata received the highest score in the evaluation, followed by in turn OpenDataSoft, CKAN and Softronic. Socrata is recommended as a platform for publishing open government data mainly because it offered extensive functionality, required few technical skills and provided plenty of support services.

    Today, a steel roll is cut within the steel industry in a cutting factory, the steel rollsare divided to smaller part bands with poor control of the burr height quality. Samplesis taken manually, the amount of samples is too low to know the quality of thesteel roll, the steel rolls can be divided up to 150 times and the length will be 30 kilometers. A whole resend for one steel roll costs up against a million SEK and has anegative climatic impact. One software prototype for detection of burr heights witha reference line was programmed. The prototype contained one light sensor, two motors,a PC and one prototype construction. Each task in the software was allocatedan own thread. Operating systems, threads and algorithms was performance testedfor measurement of execution times and period times. The result showed that a burrheight detector where possible to implement. The algorithm could detect burrheights that were too large related to its reference line.

    Detta examensarbete har utförts på uppdrag av Terco. Tercos PST 2220 Transmission Line and Distribution Module fungerar som en fysisk modell av ett verkligt transmissions- eller distributionsnät där fem olika typer av nät med avseende på längd, spänningsnivå och skenbar effekt är möjliga. Idag finns ett behov av en modell där användaren kan ställa in dessa parametrar så att modellen mer precist kan spegla vilka egenskaper det specifika nätet har. Här undersöks hur längden och dess inverkan på en ledning kan varieras i en modell. En presentation av hur transmissions- och distributionsnät fungerar och beskrivs teoretiskt lägger grunden till den modell och de två approximationer som kan beskriva ett helt näts egenskaper. Då R, L och C komponenterna behöver kunna varieras för att fysiskt kunna realisera denna teoretiska modell undersöks vilka metoder som detta kan genomföras på. För detta undersöks två tillvägagångssätt, kaskadkopplad pi-modell och variabel aktiv-passiv reaktans. Flera aspekter som utrymme, kostnad och variabilitet gör att variabel aktiv-passiv reaktans är att föredra. Dess funktion som en varierbar spänningskälla, uppbyggd av switchar styrda med reglerteknik och pulsbreddsmodulering gör att komponenterna R, L och C och dess egenskaper och inverkan på en transmissionslinje kan åstadkommas. Resultatet är att de nödvändiga R,L,C komponenterna går att variera i storlek för att kunna ingå i en varierbar transmissionsledningsmodell. Resultatet och målen säkerställs med simuleringar där variabel aktivpassiv reaktans visas kunna vidareutvecklas och praktiskt testas för att modellera transmissions- och distributionsnät med olika längd.

    This report has investigated the conditions for reconstructing a small 10 kV distribution grid in the Stockholm archipelago into a so called smart grid with a self-healing function. The grid is in a remote location and have had a lot of faults during the last years, therefore it is desirable to be able to locate the fault and automatically section it and restore service through a back-up feeder (if needed) to reduce downtime for customers. This report focuses especially on the suitability to use the fault detection equipment SICAM FCM in the grid and to propose how it should be configured.

    Information about the grid and problem is described together with a theoretical background. The results from tests and fault simulations on the SICAM FCM focused on sensibility around threshold values is presented and analysed. From test results and information about the grid recommended settings for SICAM FCM together with other recommendations for implementation of the self-healing grid has been produced.

    Contemporary technological systems generate massive quantities of log messages. These messages can be stored, searched and visualized efficiently using log management and analysis tools. The analysis of log messages offer insights into system behavior such as performance, server status and execution faults in web applications.

    iStone AB wants to explore the possibility to automate their debugging process. Since iStone does most parts of their debugging manually, it takes time to find errors within the system. The aim was therefore to find different solutions to reduce the time it takes to debug.

    An analysis of log messages within access – and console logs were made, so that the most appropriate data mining techniques for iStone’s system would be chosen. Data mining algorithms and log management and analysis tools were compared. The result of the comparisons showed that the ELK Stack as well as a mixture between Eclat and a hybrid algorithm (Eclat and Apriori) were the most appropriate choices. To demonstrate their feasibility, the ELK Stack and Eclat were implemented. The produced results show that data mining and the use of a platform for log analysis can facilitate and reduce the time it takes to debug.

    Abstract [en]

    The rapid expansion of computer technology have forced several business sectors to integrate with the continuous development of techniques in order to assist them in various tasks. Many fields have happily embraced the technology implementing it in numerous ways, however the development speed have proven difficult to keep up with. The insurance industry have struggled with ridding themselves of old and monolithic legacy systems with a haphazard construction. These systems are costly, cumbersome and often reliant on a “third party” centered structure creating such flaws as data leaks and monopolisation.

    Blockchain is a distributed ledger operating over a peer-to-peer basis, with the intention to unshackle contemporary system from their dependence towards central authorities. Additionally, the peer-to-peer architecture introduced a new form of transparency which differs from contemporary solutions used in centralised systems, beyond the peer-to-peer architecture, the blockchain also incorporated consensus algorithms, allowing peers to verify one another to achieve consensus regarding the validity of each block. This resulted in a "trustless system" considering no single party in the community is dependent on the credibility of a central authority.

    In order for the blockchain technology to be applicable on the market it must overcome obstacles such as privacy and the new EU data protection regulation “General protection data regulation”. However a vague definition of personal data have caused ambiguity which appears to be irreconcilable with the blockchain technology. Research have therefore shifted its focus to explore opportunities for the technology to collaborate with techniques from centralisation in order to overcome its obstacles.

    This thesis describes the process of analyzing and evaluating the structure of data storage and improving the performance for generating parameter files destined for card terminals. The work was done in house at Esplanad AB, a company dealing with security solutions and distribution of settings for payment stations.

    The first task was to evaluate the possibilities for improving the database storing the settings for each card reader. The second task was to improve the structure of the code and also improve the file generating systems performance.

    The thesis describes testing performance, both for Esplanad’s old system for generating parameter files, and the new one constructed. The solution presented includes improved performance of the file generating process and a new structure for the database that increases scalability.

    Tests show that the new system is capable of generating parameter files with TLV-format, about 16 times faster. The proposed solution implements parallel processes and database replication.

    With the digitization that is happening right now in the industrial world, there is a lot of curiosity about how future technologies like Augmented Reality can be applied in industrial manufacturing processes. The aim of the thesis was to investigate whether and how augmented reality technology can be utilized in industries to improve current work processes. Two prototypes were developed for the augmented reality glasses Microsoft HoloLens and evaluated by comparing previous working methods with new ones. Tests of the prototypes showed that efficiency, production quality and mobility increased for the user at the expense of worse ergonomics.

    This thesis has been carried out on behalf of the consulting company Seavus to re-duce cable usage in their office. Smart hubs (i.e. a central control unit) are made tomake usage of devices more effective.One problem is to decide between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for communication betweenthe user and the smart hub. The choice may depend upon several factors such asbandwidth (throughput), jitter (variation in delay) and packet loss, which are im-portant parameters for assessing the quality of the communication channel.The HW-platform Raspberry Pi and compatible software was used as a measure-ment tool to test Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in different environments.The result showed that Wi-Fi is best suited for communication systems that requirehigh bandwidth and low jitter, and where high amount of packet loss is tolerable.Bluetooth is best suited for communication systems where low bandwidth and highjitter is tolerable, and minimal packet losses preferred.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis work intends to study the possibilities to automate electrical testing of electronic control units in an existing test environment. The work was executed on behalf of Scania CV AB for the department Electronic Hardware, who run tests in development and verification of requirements for electronic control units. By using an automated testing system, the testing process could be made more effective and raise the quality. The testing work is done on test rigs which are equipped with full-scale hardware from real trucks to emulate the working environment the electronic control unit operates into. Development models were used to be able to create a testing system which could meet the requirements that were defined during the requirement engineering process. Evaluation matrices were used to choose the soft- and hardware that could be considered the most appropriate for the automated testing system according to the requirements. The result shown that the testing system should consist of a testing software that runs on an ordinary computer and an embedded system equipped with electronic components to enable the testing system for electrical tests. To demonstrate the possibilities of the whole testing system a prototype was manufactured which was designed to execute a test case that could greatly benefit from the advantages that comes with automation. It was a test case set out to measure voltage levels when switching in a digital input. The prototype was based on a microcontroller card from Arduino and was joined by a printed circuit board to be able to run electrical tests with the higher voltage levels that were demanded by electronic control units. To design test cases and manage the test process, LabVIEW was chosen, a software in which tests are designed in a graphical programming language. Test results for the prototype test system showed that verification of the requirements for voltage levels when switching was radically simplified by an automated procedure, as the test time could be drastically reduced, particularly in a repetitive procedure.

    Abstract

    Several problems regarding power supply of Nockebybanan and Tvärbanan tram lines have been detected. The goal of this work has been to investigate and solve some of these problems. One of the problems was that so called relay protections were breaking the current too often, even when there was no fault. The protections also often break the power supply because of current transients, which can arise when a pantograph passes a section delimiter or in the winter when there is hoarfrost on the catenary.

    The result of the investigation and analysis shows different solutions, of which one appropriate procedure for reducing the number of breaks in the rectifier stations, is to limit the current in the trams so that they are not able to use as much current. This procedure was not possible to develop for the tram manufacturer alredy to the autumn of 2017, only a power limitation was the option for the short time perspective. An investigation of the settings of the relay protections was proposed as a procedure to reduce the number of breaks and was done by Siemens. The aim was to investigate if the relay protection could be readjusted so that the number of breaks could be reduced. The investigation showed that the so called derivative protection could be readjusted a bit. In this thesis work, it was also proposed that the lapse when a tram passes a section delimiter should be investigated, and was done so by the tram manufacturer. Their result was supposed to be finished after the completion of this thesis work. Options for operating trams when there is hoarfrost on the catenary is investigated and a relatively simple solution is to let a roller apply glycerol on the overhead line, preventing hoarfrost.

    In the progress of satisfying customer needs and improving the bonds between buyers and sellers the companies use the business philosophy of Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Significant CRM investments are made by companies and various CRM vendors provide support for businesses through CRM-systems. CRM-systems often deliver features handling customer management, sales and marketing, but many companies only use the sales module of the CRM-system.

    Kentor is currently working with support and development on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM platform and wanted to study the possibility to generalize the sales module in the CRM-system to meet customer needs easier.

     

    This report contains an evaluation, comparison and generalization of three different CRM solutions. The evaluation was based on an analysis of three different CRM distributors as well as an analysis of three Microsoft Dynamics CRM solutions. The comparison and generalization were based on a scientific comparison methodology for IT-systems.

    The prototype was created from the result of the comparison and was considered a generalized solution but the authors did not regard the prototype to have sufficient generalized customizations for companies to take advantage of the solution.

    PerfMon is a prototype implementation of a realtime performance management method for sensor data communication in assisted living applications. It is implemented in accordance with the specification for GATT services in Bluetooth low energy (BLE). PerfMon provides a tool for real-time performance monitoring and control for caregivers and service providers. Test results from monitoring and control of packet loss ratio related to alarm thresholds are presented. PerfMon is adapted to cloud-based web services using RESTful APIs and established object models. Performance management is a necessary component in an overall management system of IoT devices for healthcare and assisted living applications.

    This paper evaluates a use-case for smartphone-centric Wi-Fi device-to-device sensor communication that enables user mobility in ambient assisted living (AAL) services. A real-time performance measurement method has been developed and implemented to evaluate the smartphone’s ability to act as a hub and gateway for Wi-Fi connected sensor nodes. The results show that Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi Hotspot are feasible solutions for smartphone-centric device-to-device communication that enables user mobility. In addition, a cloud-based web application for monitoring and displaying sensor data has been implemented.

    The study in this report examines data storage for the application Vklass. The problem that has been studied in this work is that the application receives and stores a big amount of files which are stored on a server locally in Stockholm where back up is made to another server on a regular basis. Today’s implemented solution for data storage endorse that the server that stores the files continues to grow each month without further structure since all the upload files is stored in the same folder which yields a more complex and less lucid storage and management for the data. This yields limitations for the performance of the application when the backup-copy needs to be restored. The owners of the application request a solu-tion that gives a more effective management of the stored data with a cost and performance effective technique. The solution that will be presented in this study should also enable stor-ing data with a more lucid and convenient structure.

    The studied methods for the solution include storing data locally and data storage in the biggest public cloud services. The investigation and analysis of the chosen methods proved that data storage in cloud services fulfilled the requirements for the identified solution as opposed to the methods for storing data locally that proved to yield deficits which would not fulfill these requirements. The deduction of this study identified Microsoft Azure Sto-rage to be the best public cloud solution for the given problem since data is stored in a per-formance and structure effective way. It was also proven that even the most expensive sto-rage solution provided by Azure Storage lowered the costs for data storage by 84 percent compared to today’s data storage solution during the first five years.

    Abstract [en]

    There's a high risk that an unauthorized party can gain access to and use a consumer's iden-tity. This while the ability to control how and when a personal identity is used is small. The question to be answered were regarding how identity theft and online fraud could be mi-nimized and give the consumers a greater influence and more control over the management of their identity online.

    The goal was to centralize and establish a common approach for identity management on-line, with greater benefits for consumers. Through central service individual consumers would be able to set conditions for which online shops and services would be able to access their identities and grant access in each specific transaction. This would remove the need for non-central control of identities and as a result remove the need for independent storage of identity information.

    The solution would result in a system model with the potential to authenticate the consu-mer, managing conditions for how individual identity documents may be used online and to provide the consumer with a online history by sending notifications of events that has occurred with regard to a specific identity.

    A prototype was developed to demonstrate the basic functionality in practice. This included the functionality to authenticate the consumer with Mobile BankID, send notifications about events and check existing conditions regarding a specific identity. This prototype came to consist of a simplified system according to the model developed, an associated API, and two models representing an online store and a payment provider that would utilize the functionality of the system by calling the API.

    The proposed solution was evaluated through two interviews with experts in the fields of IT Security and e-commerce. The conclusion was that identity fraud would probably drop drastically and the individual consumer influence and awareness would be fortified. The main reason for this was considered to be primarily through the consistent and standardized way for authentication of and communication with the consumer. This would remove the individual risk for online services.

    The challenge with this proposed solution is believed to be getting consumers, online re-tailers and payment providers to accept a central solution instead of relying on internally developed and disconnected solution.
