Laboration : Identify an unknown sample (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

It goes without saying today that laborations are a central part of chemistry education. One of the school's goals is to connect theory and practice, which was the focus of this thesis. The aim was to develop a laboratory, Identify an unknown sample, which would give students the opportunity to see the connection between theory and reality.

Before the laboratory, a compendium of facts and theories was developed and distributed to the students. The laboratory was then carried out, and afterwards interviews were carried out with both students and teachers. The collected data, from interviews and observations, were analyzed using thematic analysis.

Several themes were identified and structured based on the three classic didactic questions: What, How and Why (Skolverket, 2024, a). The result showed that the students appreciated the laboratory and experienced it as educational.
