Hållbarhetsfrågor har blivit allt viktigare inom industrin, vilket ställer krav på medarbetarnas kunskap och delaktighet. Utifrån detta har följande examensarbete genomförts på Outokumpu Stainless AB i Avesta med syfte att utveckla ett underlag till en framtida hållbarhetsutbildning. Målet är att öka förståelsen för hållbarhetsfrågor, främja engagemang och bidra till att hållbarhetsarbete integreras i det dagliga arbetet. För att undersöka hur den kommande utbildningen bör utformas har en enkätundersökning och sju kvalitativa intervjuer genomförts. Den tematiska analysen visar att det finns ett stort intresse för hållbarhet bland anställda, men att kunskapsnivån varierar. Respondenterna efterfrågar en utbildning med lokal förankring, tydlig koppling till det egna arbetet samt möjlighet till reflektion och erfarenhetsutbyte. Utifrån studiens resultat och det teoretiska ramverket har ett konkret utbildningsunderlag tagits fram. Underlaget presenteras i en bilaga och innehåller rekommendationer om innehåll, pedagogisk struktur och implementering. Studien visar att en väl utformad utbildning inte bara stärker kunskapen hos enskilda medarbetare, utan också kan bidra till en långsiktig utveckling av hållbarhetsarbetet inom organisationen.

Sustainability issues have become increasingly important in the industrial sector, placing new demands on employees’ knowledge and engagement. This thesis was conducted at Outokumpu Stainless AB in Avesta with the aim of developing a foundation for a future internal sustainability education. The goal is to strengthen employees’ understanding of sustainability, promote engagement, and support the integration of sustainability into daily operations. To investigate how the training should be designed, a survey and seven qualitative interviews were conducted. Thematic analysis shows a strong interest in sustainability among employees, though knowledge levels vary. Respondents expressed a desire for training that is locally anchored, clearly linked to their specific work tasks, and includes opportunities for reflection and knowledge exchange. Based on the study’s results and theoretical framework, a concrete educational proposal has been developed. This proposal is presented in an appendix and includes recommendations regarding content, pedagogical structure, and implementation. The study shows that well-designed training can not only enhance individual knowledge but also contribute to the long-term development of the organization’s sustainability work and strengthen internal communication.
