Reuse of precast concrete elements : Opportunities, challenges and future potential in the construction industry (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The study analyses the potential for reuse of precast concrete elements based on the EU pilot project ReCreate. The topics covered include the processes for inventorying, dismantling and reassembling, the environmental impact of reuse, as well as business models and how the process is coordinated. The results show that recycling is already technically possible, but that several processes must be developed for application on a larger scale to become a possibility. Competence in the area is necessary, which can be achieved by promoting cooperation and information sharing between actors. This cooperation can be facilitated by the implementation of BIM (Building Information Modelling), which is also an important tool for quality assurance of the reused elements. With the development of standardized methods and processes, the technology is considered to have good future potential
