Abstract [en]

This project has studied adoption of system innovations and problems that can arise in different areas of system innovation. The specific case study has been about goods deliveries with temporary intermediate storage of refrigerated goods to support off-peak deliveries in urban environments. Through iterative concept design processes, four business model proposals and four technical solutions have been developed that can be combined in different ways. The aim of this was to create a modular business offering that can be adapted to customers' specific conditions and needs. Findings have also been produced on the potential for adoption of the concepts by different stakeholders and on their desirability, viability, feasibility, and sustainability, with recommendations for further work. Analyses have been made of the innovation process, the validity and reliability of the project, the contribution of the project results to current research, and the economic, social, and environmental aspects of the project results for society and industry.
