På gränsen till Sätraskogens Naturreservat hittar man Bredängs Camping, den perfekta entren till naturreservatet på grund av dess närhet till Bredängs tunnelbanestation. Detta är tomten jag valde för mitt projekt, ett Naturum som samlar rum för utställningar, en hörsal, en värmestuga, lokaler för lokala idrott- eller friluftsföreningar, och omklädningsrum med dusch och bastu i en och samma byggnad. Byggnaden är placerad i en sluttning, vilket blev en drivande kraft i projektet och påverkade både hur planen utformades, men även även hur rumsligheterna hängde samman. Taket håller en konstant nivå, men golvet följer markens naturliga lutning vilket leder till en byggnad där takhöjden blir högre och högre ju längre in i byggnaden man kommer. Detta ger upphov till intressanta rumsligheter, bland annat den sluttande korridoren som sträcker sig genom hela byggnaden. Projektet utforskar hur olika funktioner kan samexistera i en byggnad, och tillsammans bli mer än sina beståndsdelar, alltihop i en sammanhållen design.

On the edge of the Sätraskogen Nature Reserve you find Bredängs Camping, the perfect entrance to the Nature Reserve because of its proximity to Bredängs Metro Station. This is the site I chose for my Naturum, a visitor center for the area which incorporates spaces for exhibits, an auditorium, places to prepare and eat food, spaces for local sports clubs, and changing rooms with showers and saunas into one building. The building is situated in a slope, which became a driving force behind the design, informing both the layout of the rooms and the experience of the space. The roof stays at a constant level, but the floors stay in level with the ground meaning the ceiling gets higher and higher as you move through the building. This gives some interesting spaces, for example the sloped corridor stretching the entire length of the building. The project explores how different functions can coexist in one building, and work together to create something bigger than the sum of its parts, everything wrapped in a cohesive design.
