Abstract [sv]

Detta examensarbete beskriver utvecklingen och utvärderingen av en laborativ undervisningsaktivitet om solcellsteknik för gymnasieelever på Vetenskapens Hus. Målet var att ta fram en undersökande och engagerande aktivitet som kan bli en del av det ordinarie utbudet. För att stödja målet användes fyra didaktiska modeller: Frihetsgrader, Organiserade syften, Meaning making och Produktiva frågor. Aktiviteten fokuserar på undersökningen av verkningsgrad av fyra olika typer av solceller under varierande förhållanden och utvecklades iterativt under två faser. Designprocessen omfattade tekniska lösningar, däribland en ljusbox och skyddsramar för solcellerna, för att säkerställa jämn ljusspridning och hållbar elevanvändning. Elevengagemang analyserades genom självskattningsenkäter och tematisk analys av inspelade gruppdiskussioner. Självskattningsenkäterna visade höga nivåer av upplevd emotionellt engagemang. Den tematiska analysen visade främst på beteendemässigt engagemang, men även kognitiva och emotionella aspekter förekom. Resultatet visar att en balans mellan öppen undersökning och tydlig vägledning är viktig för att skapa engagemang.

Abstract [en]

This degree project involved designing and evaluating a solar cell technology learning activity for upper secondary students at Vetenskapens Hus. The aim was to design an inquiry-based and engaging activity that could become part of their regular school program. To aim this purpose, four didactical models were combined: Degrees of freedom, Organised purposes, Meaning making and Productive questions. The activity focuses on investigating the efficiency of four different types of solar cells under varying conditions and was developed iteratively in two phases. Part of the design process included technical solutions such as a light box and protective cell frames, to ensure consistent lighting and durability during student use. Student engagement was analysed through self-assessment surveys and thematic analysis of recorded group discussions. The surveys showed high levels of experienced emotional engagement. The thematic analysis primarily revealed behavioral engagement, with some indication of cognitive and emotional engagement. The results suggest that a careful balance between open-ended inquiry and structured guidance is crucial for promoting engagement.
