Dagens fritidsgård i Vårberg stängdes ned i september 2022 då den ansågs vara både för utnött och för liten för att rymma ett större antal ungdomar. Och bland antalet ungdomar som vistas på en fritidsgård i Stockholms kommun, står Skärholmen/Vårberg högst upp på listan. Ingen annanstans i kommunen besöker ungdomar sin lokala fritidsgård i samma utsträckning. Att hitta en ny fritidsgård har därför varit en prioritering hos stadsdelsnämnden, men utan framgång. Den har sedan dess öppnats igen, men i samma lokaler.  Jag vill ge ungdomarna i Vårberg den fritidsgård de förtjänar. På en tomt strax norr om Vårberg centrum i direkt anslutning till Vårbergsskolan, och dessutom med bra kopplingar till omkringliggande skolor, har jag valt att uppföra en ny fritidsgård med ett hybridprogram. Det kommer vara en fritidsgård med en idrottshall och diverse andra funktioner som gym, café, klassrum och studieytor, ett litet bibliotek med mera.  Formen på byggnaden är anpassad efter tomtens förutsättningar och med omkringliggande byggnader i åtanke, både genom dess storlek, men även material och utseende. 

The local youth center in Vårberg was shut down in September 2022 as it was considered both too worn down and too small to accommodate a larger number of young people. And among the number of youths who attend a youth center in Stockholm municipality, Skärholmen/Vårberg ranks at the very top of the list. Nowhere else in the municipality do young people visit their local youth center to the same extent. Finding a new youth center has therefore been a priority for the district council, but without success. Since then, it has reopened, but in the same premises.I want to give the young people of Vårberg the youth center they deserve. On a plot of land just north of Vårberg Center, directly connected to Vårberg School and with good links to surrounding schools, I have chosen to build a new youth center with a hybrid program. It will be a youth center with a sports hall and various other functions such as a gym, café, classrooms and study areas, a small library, and more.The shape of the building is adapted to the conditions of the plot and the surrounding buildings, both in terms of its size, as well as its materials and appearance.
