Sportområdet i Hallunda, Botkyrka, har goda förutsättningar för aktivitet, men saknar gemensamhet och klubb etablering. Genom att placera en ishall i området blir issport mer tillgängligt för boende i Hallunda, Norsborg, Alby och Fitja. Hallen möjliggör ny sportaktivitet på platsen, samt ger rum för andra klubbar i området att kunna etablera sig. 

Tanken är att ishallen ska bli en mötespunkt för olika klubbar att träffas, utbyta erfarenheter och känna gemenskap i ett delat sammanhang. Ishallen ger en nära plats åt ungdomar att vara på efter skoltid. Där kan de bland annat plugga, utföra olika aktiviteter eller umgås.

Sportområdet saknar ett tillgängligt café som serverar bra mat till besökare i samband med sportaktivitet. Samspelet med närliggande skola stärks då hallen tar vara på dagens serveringssvinn från skolan och kan sälja billiga, näringsrika matlådor till sina besökare.

Luftfuktighet och temperaturreglering är viktiga faktorer i en ishall, därför har jag valt att använda stålkonstruktion som bärande element och betong, då de är material som hanterar fukt bra. Jag vill även att många delar av byggnaden ska vara i glas, för att ge en känsla av öppenhet och tillgänglighet i klubb sammanhang. I gestaltningsprocessen var det viktigt för mig att byggnaden inte blev för hög, för att den inte skulle sticka ut ur sitt kontext.   De närliggande hallarnas konvexa tak gav även inspiration till mitt projekts konkava tak.

The sports area in Hallunda, Botkyrka, has good potential for activity but lacks a sense of community and established clubs. By placing an ice rink in the area, ice sports become more accessible to residents of Hallunda, Norsborg, Alby, and Fittja. The hall enables new sports activities on-site and provides space for other local clubs to establish themselves.

The idea is for the ice rink to become a meeting point where different clubs can gather, exchange experiences, and build a sense of community in a shared environment. The rink offers a nearby space for young people to spend time after school, where they can study, participate in various activities, or socialize.

The sports area currently lacks an accessible café that serves quality food to visitors during sports activities. The connection with the nearby school is strengthened by the hall utilizing the school’s surplus food, offering affordable and nutritious meals to its visitors.

Humidity and temperature control are important factors in an ice rink, which is why I chose steel as the primary structural material and concrete, as they handle moisture well. I also want large parts of the building to be made of glass, to create a sense of openness and accessibility for the clubs. In the design process, it was important to me that the building would not be too tall, so it wouldn't stand out from its surroundings. The convex roofs of the neighboring halls also inspired the concave roof of my project.
