Uranium is the key element in the nuclear industry, with fission providing energy for electricity production but also neutrons for significant advancements in medicine, scientific research, and other diverse fields. This chapter provides a brief overview of the current state of uranium use within and around the context of nuclear power generation. The challenges and opportunities associated with uranium use are highlighted; these encompass crucial areas such as nuclear security measures, comprehensive waste management strategies to ensure environmental safety for future generations, and ongoing technological advancements that continue to shape this dynamic landscape.
