Musik i Samklang med Hållbarhet? : En Kartläggning av ESG- Arbetet och Perspektiv på CSRD inom den Svenska Livemusikindustrin (Swedish)
Abstract [en]

This study examines sustainability efforts within the Swedish live music industry andthe industry's level of knowledge and perceptions regarding the CorporateSustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The study followed a qualitative researchapproach, combining document analysis with semi-structured interviews to identifykey themes around current sustainability efforts among participating industry entities,as well as the industry’s awareness, preparedness, and feedback regarding the CSRD.

The findings reveal several thematic areas of ongoing sustainability efforts, includingwaste management, circularity, transportation, energy, collaboration, DEI, safety, compliance, and regulatory engagement. Regarding the CSRD, participantsdemonstrated varying degrees of awareness, where larger entities showed a generalhigher awareness of the directive than smaller entities. The entities aware of the CSRDexpressed initiatives to implement the directive, even though certain factors alsoindicated limitations in the preparedness for compliance.

Certain challenges and concerns were also addressed regarding the CSRD, includingadministrative burdens of compliance, the comprehensive character of the directive, and the detailed complexity of the directive’s reporting standards. Nevertheless, participants also identified potential benefits, such as how the directive’s potential topromote further strategic thinking, foster inter-sectoral collaboration, andcontributing to more coherent, transparent, and long-term sustainability practices.
