Abstract [en]

Cycling to and from work is common in Swedish society. In Sweden, every sixth person rides a bicycle during the hot season. Cycling is a very modern and climate-friendly way to get from point to point, and society places more and more demands on the cycling environment. In Sweden, there are about 23,000 km of cycle paths and more will be built (National Cycle Accounts, 2020). Today, single accidents that occur in the cycle path area create some concern among authorities, but also among ordinary citizens. According to statistics on seriously injured people from the Swedish Transport Agency in collaboration with Strada, it is clear that people with serious injuries are increasing. In 2010, 1706 people were injured, and in 2020 - 2024 people were injured (Klasson, 2014). A cure for this problem could be in research a new innovation. Asphalt is mixed with rubber granules, which means that the shock absorption increases 4-5 times. Other values are also affected, such as stiffness, E-modulus, load-bearing capacity, strength. This new innovation can be a good alternative to ordinary asphalt, but then the exact mixture is required to ensure that the pavement lasts. The purpose of this thesis is to, through a number of experiments using compression equipment, HIC (Head Injury Criterion), and tomography X-ray readers, create a basis that leads to calculation to determine different values for requirement specifications.
