Abstract [en]

Education has always been a way to prepare citizens for the future. Right now, artificial intelligence (AI) is regarded as a key emerging technology that will change the future radically in all areas of life. As such, many educational stakeholders are considering how best to convey the necessary knowledges and skills to the general population to prepare them for a future where AI is ubiquitous. But what exactly are we supposed to learn, and why? This chapter looks at problematisations (ways that problems and solutions are co-constructed) and epistemic injustice (ways in which certain knowledge is privileged) in international educational and technological policies with the overall aim to deepen our scientific understanding of education as a political solution to societal problems (particularly those involving AI and autonomous systems), and thereby support the development of critically reflexive and just citizen education about AI futures.
