Abstract [en]

The escalating energy crisis and the urgent need for climate change mitigation necessitate the transformation of traditional energy systems into more resilient, sustainable, and efficient structures. In this context, the integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RESs), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and the deployment of Energy Management Systems (EMS) are pivotal. This paper designs a MILP-based EMS optimization model to satisfy energy consumption with the least energy bills and carbon emissions in urban educational buildings. A case study of an educational building in Stockholm is used to simulate and evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed EMS model.
