Abstract [en]

Previous form-finding methods for mesh reflectors have left the supporting outer ring with uneven compression loads in its members. Uniform ring compression would reduce ring deflection, bypassing lengthy iterations on finite element calculations. Several methods are proposed to produce target load vectors at the ring nodes by modifying the force densities in specific mesh elements. These methods are used to obtain near-uniform compression loads in the outer ring elements. These methods are applied to circular and elliptical rings of different sizes, where the uniform compression in the rings create greatly reduced ring deformation (59% to 98% reduction) after finite element strain calculations. The performance, advantages and disadvantages of each method are discussed.

Tidigare metoder för formbestämning av nätreflektorer har givit upphov till ojämna tryckbelastningar i den yttre stödringen. En jämn tryckbelastning i ringen skulle minska ringens deformation och undvika omfattande iterationer med finita elementberäkningar. Flera metoder föreslås i detta arbete för att skapa målvektorer för lasterna på den ringens noder genom att ändra krafttätheten i specifika element av reflektors nät. Dessa metoder används för att uppnå nästintill jämn tryckbelastning i de yttre ringelementen. Metoderna appliceras på cirkulära och elliptiska ringar av olika storlekar, där den jämna tryckbelastningen i ringarna skapar en betydligt minskad ringdeformation (59% till 98% minskning) efter finita elementberäkningar av ringens deformationer. Prestanda, fördelar och nackdelar med varje metod diskuteras.
