The project is placed in Vinsta industry area and will explore how to transform this industrial area into a more mixed urban environment and then transform Office buildings into housing units. It began as a response to the municipality’s proposal, which suggested demolishing many existing buildings and replacing them with new ones. Their approach contradicts both climate-conscious strategies and the preservation of the area’s identity. Instead, this project tries to keep and enhance the architectural qualities of the site while introducing thoughtful interventions to increase the    density.• First is the Vinsta core which is the industrial and office building from 1952 and onwards.• Second is asphalted areas and larger halls with sheet metal facade from the 1970s and onwards.• Third is open business areas and halls with sheet metal roofs, walls in light weight concrete. The project seeks to preserve and enhance the architectural merit and qualities of the core zone while introducing new volumes through infill techniques. The intervention involves the strategical removal of unpractical volumes and then densify the area. The additions will be carefully explored in relation to crucial aspects such as sunlight access, privacy, movement, accessibility, and construction feasibility. Aesthetically, the new additions will strive for a cohesive and homogeneous facade that respects the character of the existing buildings. While the current spatial arrangement is unique in its organic and unordered composition, the interventions will introduce a subtle sense of order without erasing the past. The interplay between the old and new will be a key theme, preserving the identity of the site while improving its functionality and livability.  The residential units will be resulted around three type of intervention: Transformation existing buildingAddition to current buildingNew buildings in selected gaps within the area which will be carefully integrated into the site to create a dynamic yet coherent urban environment.   In the end, the approach seeks to balance preservation with transformation. By reinforcing the architectural qualities of the existing structures while thoughtfully introducing new volumes, the project aims to create a dense yet livable urban environment that respects its past while embracing future possibilities.
