Projektet är en transformation av en övergiven skolbyggnad från 1973 i Vårby Gård. Dess nya funktion är ett aktivitetshus med fokus på social hållbarhet. Byggnaden syftar till att skapa en inkluderande och flexibel mötesplats för barn och unga i området, inspirerad av Fryshusets verksamhetsmodell. Genom att ta tillvara på platsens befintliga resurser och kontextuella förutsättningar skapas nya möjligheter för kultur, idrott och social gemenskap. Byggnadens tidigare struktur med flera entréer och ett centralt atrium omformas genom en ny huvudaxel som öppnar upp huset inifrån och ut, och takets nya spetsiga form optimerar dagsljusinsläpp och skapar en dynamisk siluett. Med detta arbete vill jag ta fram ett förslag som skulle bidra till en mer inkluderande stadsdel där unga ges större utrymme att utvecklas och mötas.

This project involves the transformation of an abandoned school building from 1973 in Vårby Gård into a community activity center with a focus on social sustainability. The building is reimagined as an inclusive and flexible meeting place for children and young people in the area, inspired by the operational model of Fryshuset. By utilizing the site's existing resources and contextual conditions, new opportunities for culture, sports, and social interaction are created. The building’s original layout, featuring multiple entrances and a central atrium, is restructured through a new main axis that opens the house from the inside out. Additionally, a newly designed pitched roof optimizes natural daylight and forms a dynamic silhouette. This work proposes a design that aims to contribute to a more inclusive neighborhood where young people are given greater space to grow and connect.
